Care is a qualification
We recruit people who genuinely want students to succeed, not only people with impressive credentials.
Letrado is an intentionally small advisory team for students and families who want a relationship, not a transaction. We protect the time, honesty, and closeness that serious mentorship requires.

Selective admissions is demanding enough without feeling processed by a large system. Students deserve an advisor who remembers the conversation behind the document, notices when something has changed, and cares about the person after the deadline passes.
We remain intentionally small so one compatible lead mentor can stay close, a coordinated team can contribute without fragmenting the relationship, and every family can receive an honest answer about whether we are truly the right fit.

Some founders and original mentors remain in contact with students they guided seven to ten years ago, through university, early careers, and later decisions. Those relationships developed naturally; they describe Letrado's long view without promising permanent availability.
“An acceptance can finish an application. It does not have to finish every relationship.”
We recruit people who genuinely want students to succeed, not only people with impressive credentials.
The mentor, student, and family need a working dynamic that makes honest conversation possible.
If another resource would serve someone better, helping them find it is part of taking good care of them.
Limited caseloads create time to prepare, remember, notice, respond, and stay close.
The strongest essays and decisions begin with what is real, not with a persona manufactured for admissions.
Former students and mentors can choose to reconnect when a later question makes that relationship useful again.
Your lead mentor works with a limited number of students and protects continuity. We match for working style as well as expertise, introduce your proposed lead mentor privately, and bring in specialists only when their perspective is genuinely useful.
See how matching works →We will listen carefully and tell you whether we believe Letrado is the right fit. If another resource would serve you better, we will be honest about that too.
